Dr. Mahy is an Associate Professor at Brock University. She received her Hon BSc in Psychology from the University of Toronto, PhD from the University of Oregon, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Geneva.

Dr. Mahy is the director of the Developing Memory and Cognition Lab. Her research is funded by NSERC, SSHRC, and an Early Researcher Award from the 
Ontario Government.

Tessa Mazachowsky, M.A.

Tessa is a PhD student in the DMC Lab.
Tessa is interested in the development and measurement of children's future thinking. Tessa is also involved in several projects examining children's prospective memory performance and episodic future thinking. For her dissertation, Tessa is examining the measurement and development of children's future-oriented behaviour and their future-oriented explanations.

Ege Kamber, M.A.

Ege is a PhD student in the DMC Lab. Ege got his undergraduate and Masters degree from Bogazici University in Turkey. 
Ege is interested in the development of future-oriented skills especially saving behavior. In his masters thesis, Ege examined the social and cognitive correlates of saving behaviour in early childhood and adulthood.

Taissa Fuke

Taissa is interested in the contribution of memory and executive processes to young children's prospective memory development. Taissa is working on several projects that examine the development of prospective memory and the emergence and development of children's procrastination and how it is related to other forms of future thinking.

Rachel is the incoming lab manager in the DMC lab and was a former research assistant in the lab.

Summer Co-op Student/ Research Assistant

Maria is doing her co-op placement in the lab this summer. Maria will be helping with a project that will examine children's prospective memory errors using a parent diary report method. She will also be helping out with transcription and coding for a project on children's episodic thought.

​Samantha Moeller (MA 2021; Adults' perceptions of forgetful children: The impact of child age, domain, and memory type) is currently a Research Ethics Coordinator at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Lydia Lavis (MA 2020; The relation between young children's memory and metacognition) is currently a Consulting Analyst at Blue North.

Former Honours Thesis Students

Estera Houshang Tehrani (2020-2021) will attend Brock University in the Fall 2021 to pursue a Masters degree in Social Psychology working with Dr. Will Hall.

Melissa Alunni (2020-2021) is writing up the results of her Honours thesis on children's procrastination and working part-time.

Chelsey Masson (2018-2019) is attending Western University for a Masters degree in School Psychology.


Emma Stallwood (2018-2019) is currently a research assistant at SickKids in Toronto, ON.

Lindsey Gerrard (2015-2016) attended OISE for a Masters degree in School and Clinical Child Psychology and currently working as a Psychoeducational Consultant at the Peel District School Board.

Sarah Mitchinson (2015-2016) completed her Masters degree in Developmental Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University.
